    DNS (Domain Name Server)

Every computer on the Internet has a numerical address in the form of 123,456,789.10-four sers of numbers seperated by periods. This is called the Internet Protocol or IP address. However, since human beings can't be expected to remember the numerical addresses of the systems they want to visit, the Domain Name Server (DNS) was introduced. It's essence is a translation table.
